Pender Harbour Dental is a family practice where we are committed to preventative dentistry. That means, we promote regular checkups and cleanings so that we can help you keep your teeth clean and to catch problems when they are small. There are strong and proven links between your oral health and the health of your whole body – and we work hard to educate our patients on the best ways to create and maintain their oral health.
Our caring, experienced staff work hard to have our patients needs met right here on the coast. Dr. Hynd has Hospital privileges, meaning that he can treat patients with complicated medical history at Sechelt Hospital. Dr Virkela has been providing orthodontic care for coast residents for over 20 years. And Dr. Sinkovics’ is currently participating in Continuing Education courses in Root Canal Therapy. If you aren’t eligible for treatment in our office, then we have a strong group of specialists we work with and can provide a referral to ensure you get the best care possible.
In the fall of 2013, we completely remodeled our sterilization center. We are committed to operating a safe and efficient dental office and are proud of our ultra modern facility. This Hospital grade state-of-the art equipment far surpasses the College of Dental Surgeons’ requirements for a dental office in BC.
In 2016 our office underwent a huge renovation, updating our operatories and revitalizing our reception area. The whole office received a facelift with new paint and flooring throughout. We installed a digital Pan machine and a Cone Beam CT (CBCT) machine. We are proud to offer care of this caliber of care to our patients here on the Coast. In 2021, we expanded our office again adding a sixth operatory for our growing number of patients. In 2023, we installed additional sterilization equipment.
After 23 years of dedicated service to the community, Dr. Lisa Virkela has announced her retirement effective December 30, 2025. We wish her all the very best in this next chapter. We are also pleased to share that Dr. Sinkovic’s (aka Dr. Dre) will now be at Pender Harbour Dental four days a week beginning January 1, 2026. Patients who previously saw Dr. Virkela may continue their care with either Dr. Hynd or Dr. Sinkovic. We are delighted to welcome new patients as well.
