Oral Sedation
Feeling a little nervous about your dental appointment? You’re not alone. We offer oral sedation to help you feel calm and comfortable during your visit — without IV needles or gas.
Oral sedation uses a prescription medication that you take in our office before your treatment begins. It is a mild sedative that helps you relax while allowing you to remain awake and responsive during your treatment.
What to Expect
If you and your dentist decide that oral sedation is right for you:
- Your dentist will provide you with a prescription for the medication before your appointment. You will need to have the prescription filled ahead of time.
- You will need a responsible adult to drive you to and from your appointment. You should not drive yourself after taking the medication.
- You will be scheduled to arrive one hour before your treatment begins. This gives our team time to monitor you and make sure you are comfortable before we begin.
- Talk with your dentist about oral sedation when your treatment is diagnosed or planned. This gives you enough time to fill your prescription and review the instructions.
Your comfort and safety are important to us. We’ll guide you through the process and make sure you know what to expect every step of the way.
